Outings
One thing that pensioners aren’t renowned for these days is sitting
on their backsides - and many like to think that the “Third Age” offers
an opportunity to add to the store of knowledge
with which life has already endowed them .
So, when there’s a chance to pop out for the day to see something
different (often at a reduced entrance fee, and with a small subsidy
thrown in towards lunch) they welcome it with open arms.
Over the years the Club has arranged outings to a wide range of interesting places - Waddesdon Manor, Holkham Hall,
Hampton Court Flower Show, Kew Gardens, River Trips on the Orwell, the Thames at Marlow & The Trent in Nottingham
with lunch on board, Deene Park - House & Gardens, Biggin Hill Airfield, Churchill's house - Chartwell,
however all these were before the pandemic and the 2020 / 2021 restrictions.
After our release in 2022 we have managed trips to Ingatestone Hall, Grimsthorpe Castle, Boughton House and a river trip on an old Thames Barge out of Maldon, Birmingham Canal Trip, Beth Chatto's garden, Bletchley Park code breakers, River Thames with Christmas supper, Loughborough Boat Trip, Waterperry Gardens, River Bure at Horning, Sandringham to name but a few - and there will be more to come!
We also try to fit in a couple of Theatre Trips each year
which have included The Classical Spectacular at the Royal Albert Hall
The Commitments in Norwich, 9 to 5 The Musical, Tina The Musical, Irving Berlin's White Christmas, Aspects of Love, Pretty Woman, Moulin Rouge, Brick Lane Christmas Show, Starlight Express, Evita, Joseph Technicolour Dreamcoat in Milton Keynes with more to come !
You can pick up the details of outings from
the Diary Dates page, as they occur.
