About us
The Club is one of some fifty or so similar Clubs, whose members
have an affinity with geographical regions of the Bank
or specific operational areas.
Cambridge District was relatively small (and friendly!) with only around 32 branches
but its branches were spread throughout
Cambridgeshire, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, and its
membership is drawn primarily from staff whose career
touched those counties or who now live in the area.
The purpose of the Club is twofold - to promote social and recreational activities
and to provide appropriate welfare assistance to its members in general.
The affairs of the Club are guided by an elected Management Committee,
which communicates with relevant areas of the Bank.
Communication with members is achieved through the frequent use of bespoke mailing lists.
Such communications are postal and more recently e-mail, where members have agreed to that form of cost effective communication; the presence of Committee members at arranged events;
this website; welfare activities; an annual Newsletter;
and the Annual General Meeting.
If you live in the area, are 50 years of age or older, have worked for Barclays
for 15 years or more and are in receipt of a Barclays administered pension
or are the widow or widower of someone who did,
do join us, we would love to see you.
